For my fellow introverts, it’s much more comfortable and productive although I get that it’s not desirable for everyone. Throughout the years, I’ve experienced the #WFH do’s + dont’s.
Here are my top tips to help you reset and make the best of it.
Dedicate space. Find a separate space—other than your kitchen table or your bed —to set up shop. Ideally, it’s in an area where you can close the door and eliminate the temptation to check email all.the.time.
Set work hours & stick to them. Just because you’re home, doesn’t mean you have to be available 24 hours and if your employer disagrees, it might be a sign it’s time to look elsewhere #justsayin.
Use your commute time wisely. You probably spent at least 20 minutes driving to & from work – use that time to get some fresh air or start a gratitude journal or set up a home yoga practice.
Feel less isolated with video meetings. Confession—I used to avoid video meetings at all costs until I tried them a few times. Now I‘m basically on camera all day long & love the interaction. It’s not much different than a typical office interaction minus the blah conference room walls and stale office air.
Decorate your desk. Add something simple like a house plant or fresh flowers. This easy addition can make a significant difference.
