And what better way to celebrate the season of new beginnings than by combining two of my favorite things: Careers + Calla Lillies! 🌼
Let’s get to it!
I’m here with a special episode dedicated to the start of the spring season—combining two of my favorite topics: Careers + Calla Lillies!
Lesson 1: Location matters
Uncovering what you need from a work environment will make finding where you can flourish easier.
Lesson 2: Change can be necessary
Like the calla lily, you are flexible and agile. In HEART-based career planning, we discuss the importance of agility with your career intentions; the world is racing, so your goals should be nimble and easy to iterate.
Lesson 3: Give yourself time
Have patience in your growth.
Lesson 4: Prioritize quality connections
Surround yourself with like-minded people.
Lesson 5: Help others when you can
Networking is more about serving others than asking for a job.
+ Identify people who do the job you want or who work in the industry or company you’re interested in. Then connect with them, talk with them, and find out how they got their start. Do this however it makes sense for you.
+ Break the ice through social media.
+ Let people know what you want. Are you looking to make a change? Tell everyone you know! Everyone knows someone, and people inherently want to help.
+ Try to dismiss any anxiety about reaching out. If you’re nervous about asking for help, put yourself in the other person’s shoes. What would you do if someone reached out to you for help? You would most likely feel honored and do what you could support them.
+ Join online groups or communities.
