Welcome to summer, a favorite season for many, and I get it!
For me, summer always feels like a season of celebration…for things big and small. Really small.
I think of warm, sticky evenings at the lake with my family. July Fourth picnics and bonfires. And one tiny celebration that comes to mind is sunset.
As the sun began to sink below the horizon, my grandfather, Bapa, would tell us to be quiet and listen for the sizzle as the sun touched the water.
So we’d stop talking and sit still to listen.
Of course, we never actually heard the sun sizzle…but that wasn’t really the point.
The magic was in the pause.
For a few moments, everyone stopped what they were doing to watch something beautiful disappear from view.
And that might be the thing I love most about celebration: the invitation to pause long enough to notice what’s worth celebrating.
June is the natural midpoint of the year. A chance to sit down, look back, and take stock of the small, steady steps that brought you here.
The ways you’ve grown, often without noticing.
My guess is that you have more to celebrate than you realize. Celebration is In Season.
What I love most about celebration is that it doesn’t have to be big (and it definitely shouldn’t be reserved just for the so-called “big” things!). So, this June, set aside time to notice your growth.
Did something stretch you? Did you step out of your comfort zone? Did the thing you’ve been procrastinating on doing?
Yay! Schedule yourself a small treat to celebrate! A walk, a treat, a day off, a playlist…whatever works for you! (Pssst…scroll down a bit and the Summer Flourishing Faves list is full of ideas for self-celebrations!)
Recently, I reached out to an author I deeply admire and invited him to appear on The Flourish Careers podcast, and, amazingly…he said yes!
We had a lovely discussion, and I made sure to mark that moment with personal celebration— because it was super stretchy for me, but I did it, and it worked out great!

There are certain books that arrive at exactly the right moment in your life. For me, Die Empty by Todd Henry was one of those books. It quite literally changed my life.
In this conversation with Todd, I share with him the story of how his book did just that. Having Todd on the podcast was a full-circle moment for me.
In this episode, we talk about creativity, resilience, and what it really means to build a meaningful body of work over time.
Buy yourself flowers (obviously!). Farmgirl Flowers is my favorite for delivery, though I love local shops just as much.
Take a lake walk, browse a bookstore, or go on a solo coffee shop date with your In Season planner / journal.
Sip your morning coffee from a mug you love. (I just bought the most adorable mug and it genuinely makes my mornings happier!)
Pick up a new fiction book or inspiring magazine—I recently purchased Art Journaling by Stampington Company, and I’m obsessed with all their products.
This summer, we’re celebrating 12 seasons of The Flourish Careers podcast! When you leave a 5-star review on Apple Podcasts, take a screenshot and send it to me (or tag me on social!).
As a special thanks, you’ll receive alink for acomplimentary In Season planner!
Recently, a beloved customer sent me a photo of their heart art from the Reflect + Renew ritual inside the In Season planner. She said, “It felt like a breath of fresh air.”
Reflect + Renew can be done anytime, but I love it as a midyear ritual…something to sit with slowly and reveal to you all you have to celebrate.
You’ve Got To Nourish To Flourish!
Five minutes a day to a healthier, happier, and more well-rounded you.
That’s all it takes. Your family, your friends, and your colleagues will love you for it.
You will love you for it!
