I’m here today to kick off a three-part series on the most frequently asked questions I receive about job searching.
Special note, this series is specifically for those who know what they want to do next and are applying for new roles.
The first FAQ I want to talk about, especially since last week we went through a crash course on refreshing your resume, is cover letters.
Cover letters are a topic I receive a TON of questions about. If you’re super interested in a company or role, why wouldn’t you spend some time writing a note to the hiring manager to introduce yourself and share why you’re interested in the job?
So, with that perspective in mind, today, I’m going to walk through:
📝The goal of your cover letter
📝Some ideas to modernize your approach to sending a cover letter
📝Thoughts on what to include in a cover letter
📝And then we will wrap up with a handful of quick tips
+If you’re interested + excited about a company or job, write a cover letter. Putting in extra time and effort will help you stand out.
+A few ways to modernize your approach to writing a cover letter is to turn it into a letter of interest or pitch and email the hiring manager directly.
+When it comes time to write a cover letter, tell your story, don’t rewrite your resume; keep it short + succinct; follow the company’s tone. And remember to save your file with your name, your recruiter will thank you!
