It’s that time of year again.
Holiday invites. Year-end deadlines. Crowded calendars.
Life seems to pick up speed at the end of every year.
But it’s also when I love to slow down the most—and I do that with rituals.
I bring out all the cozy blankets in the house. I dig through my old recipe box to locate my grandmother’s unbeatable lasagna recipe. I (try to!) put away my phone and reconnect with old friends while they’re in town.
Growing up, holiday traditions—lighting candles, sharing meals, decorating the house—none of it felt extraordinary to me…
But as an adult? These traditions have become sacred rituals.
Rituals are familiar, intentional moments that can help you feel grounded and provide space to breathe amidst all the busyness so that you can pursue what you desire most.
….and that is why the R in “HEART-based Career Planning” stands for “rooted in rituals.”
Join me in embracing the calm and beauty of rituals this November.

Rituals symbolize the quiet consistency of showing up and prioritizing yourself, but they are so much more than symbolic—they are the heartbeat of growth.
Rituals bring meaning to action and structure to transitions—no matter how big or small.
The good news is that rituals don’t require more time—just more intention.
One of my favorite rituals is something I call ‘Five Minutes to Flourish’—simple, heart-centered practices designed to help you reconnect with your aspirations in just a few mindful moments each day.
Here’s how: choose a time of day when you feel most energized, set a timer for five minutes, take a deep breath, and do one small thing just for yourself.
+ Reconnect with a former colleague—a simple “thinking of you” message goes a long way
+ Write a draft to refresh your LinkedIn profile
+ Step outside and notice the season around you
Whatever it looks like, let those five minutes become your daily reminder that growth begins in small, intentional moments.
Listening to a podcast as part of your weekly rhythm can be a grounding way to stay inspired in your work and life.
Last week, Stephanie Joong shared her story of rebuilding confidence after a career shake-up and introduced the “aliveness scale,” a refreshing way to measure success by how energized and present you feel—not by titles or achievements.
This week, Jacqueline Boone invites us deeper into heart-centered living with “The Secret to Living and Working Authentically.” We talk about tuning in to your heart’s quiet truths, taking aligned action, and her beautiful idea of Heart Language—the reminder that following your heart isn’t something you learn, but something you remember.
Both episodes are filled with aha moments and practical exercises that you won’t want to miss.
Close And Open The Months With Intention. Grab your favorite notebook (and soon, your In Season Planner!), take a moment to reflect on October, and set your focus for November.
Use these prompts as a starting point, and let your thoughts take you wherever they lead.
+ October was ______ because…
+ November’s theme is _____ because…
Take a moment today. Reflect on your accomplishments, the people who have supported you, and how you’ve grown. Treat yourself to something you enjoy, like your fave fancy coffee, as a form of intentional celebration for how far you’ve come. (You deserve it!)
Then move forward, setting fresh intentions while imagining how different things will be when your heart-based aspirations come to life.
In just five minutes a day, you can transform ordinary moments into meaningful pauses that will help you stay present and grounded in what matters.
The daily Five Minutes To Flourish ritual is the one that’s helped me the most. Every career change I’ve made—every meaningful pivot and project—began with this ritual. With five quiet minutes, at the start or end of the day, I can do one small thing toward what I most want next.
You’ve Got To Nourish To Flourish!
Five minutes a day to a healthier, happier, and more well-rounded you.
That’s all it takes. Your family, your friends, and your colleagues will love you for it.
You will love you for it!
