In this final episode of Season 7, I’m wrapping up our Spring Cleaning series by focusing on energy—how it flows through our careers, where it gets blocked, and how we can clear it to create a more vibrant and fulfilling work life.

Feeling drained at work? It might be an energy problem

Ever push through a long workday only to feel completely wiped out—like no amount of coffee or sleep will fix it? That’s because time management isn’t the real issue. Energy management is.

Instead of pushing harder, what if you realigned your energy? Choose one area and make a small shift today—adjust your schedule to match your energy peaks, reset with deep breaths, reorganize your workspace, or reconnect with why you started in the first place. Small energy shifts create big results. Where will you start?

Key Themes From Today’s Episode

+ The Five Dimensions of Energy:
Inspired by Dr. Jim Loehr’s The Power of Full Engagement, we explore the four core dimensions of energy—physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual—and add a fifth: environmental. When even one of these is off balance, it impacts how we show up in our careers. But when we learn to manage them with intention, everything shifts.

+ Working with Natural Energy Cycles:
Rather than forcing productivity, I encourage aligning work with natural rhythms—our circadian rhythms, chronotypes, and even the lunar cycle—to optimize performance. For example, I know I do my best deep work in the morning, so I schedule high-focus tasks while saving admin work for later in the day when my energy dips.

+ Emotional Energy & the Power of Workplace Vibes:
Energy is contagious. If you’ve ever walked into a meeting and felt tension, you know how emotional energy influences our work. When we ignore emotional exhaustion, it leads to avoidance, disengagement, and burnout. Small shifts—like resetting with breathwork, practicing gratitude, and reframing challenges—can help reset emotional energy and improve daily interactions.

+ Mental Energy & Strengths-Driven Work:
The work that energizes us often aligns with our energy drivers—those tasks that make us feel engaged and fulfilled. For me, creativity and developing others are my top drivers. I stay energized when I focus on work that taps into these strengths. I encourage you to identify your energy drivers and structure your workload accordingly. If you lead a team, imagine how powerful it would be if everyone worked in their energy zone.

+ Spiritual Energy & Aligning Work with Purpose:
Career fulfillment comes from aligning work with what truly matters. I use the HEART framework to guide this alignment: 

Harmony – Does my work align with my values and lifestyle? 
Energizing – Does it fuel my passion and curiosity? 
Agile – Am I adapting and evolving? 
Rooted in Rituals – Do I have habits that sustain my energy? 
Tiny Actions – Am I taking small, meaningful steps forward? When work feels disconnected from purpose, it drains energy. Realigning with strengths, values, and impact can make a significant difference.

+ Environmental Energy & Refreshing Your Workspace:
Our surroundings impact our energy more than we realize. A cluttered desk can create mental fog, while natural light and an organized space can boost focus and well-being. Simple changes—letting in more light, decluttering, playing energizing music, and adding plants—can create a space that supports productivity and clarity.

+ A Simple Challenge:
Pick one area—physical, emotional, mental, spiritual, or environmental—and commit to a small energy cleanse this week. What action can you take today to shift your energy in a positive direction? 

By refreshing and realigning how we work, we can create careers that feel lighter, more fulfilling, and in sync with what matters most.
