I don’t know if January brings snow where you live, but I can’t imagine winter without it. And my absolute favorite is fresh snowfall—there’s nothing better than being outside during—or just after!
I’ve always thought the newly white world seems so much quieter.
Well, it turns out there’s actually science behind it. The air pockets in fresh, fluffy snowflakes soak up sound waves, muffling any noise and literally quieting the world for us.
And then, when the snow melts (or turns to ice), the world will become noisy and loud once again.
Recently, I’ve been questioning some of the expectations we place on January.
Somehow, we’ve come to view the flip of a man-made calendar as a call to do, perform, resolve, hustle, restart, and begin.
But if we look around, that is not what nature teaches us. January is a blank-page month, like a fresh snowfall.
Quiet. Still. Contemplative.
So if you made a New Year’s resolution that you’re already having trouble sticking to, rest easy in knowing that January is not the time to pressure yourself into making a change.
It is a time to reflect and organize your inner world.
Seek clarity in the quiet of winter. There’s no pressure. Just a gentle exhale.
Rest assured, quiet is In Season.
When Conglomerate magazine reached out to me through LinkedIn, asking me to appear on the cover, my first thought was, “Wait… me? Must be a scam!”
But after digging into it, I soon realized… this is legit. Go ahead, check it out!
Their request felt unexpected, but the truth is big opportunities rarely show up out of the blue. Instead, they’re usually the result of quiet, consistent action made behind the scenes.
Similarly, career clarity doesn’t come from listening to the noise of others’ opinions or from paying attention to what everyone else is doing—it comes from quiet.
It comes from slowing down and tuning in to your own intuition. Maybe it’s time to admit something isn’t working anymore or perhaps it’s just time for you to get enough rest to think clearly again.
Whatever is true for you, January is the perfect time to quiet the noise, tune inwardly, and gather info for fresh decisions.

For many of us, the blank page can inspire strong feelings—from excitement to resistance, from overwhelm to relief—but what if we focused on its beauty? A blank page is one of the few places in our lives where nothing is required. It doesn’t demand performance or proof. It just waits.
In this blog post, I share one of my favorite rituals for embracing the blank page…
